Express Sushi

Spicy tuna tartare on rice-cake

Today I went to Whole Foods and found a piece of beautiful sushi-grade tuna that has a radiant reddish sheen to it. So I decided to whip up a quick healthy appetizer/light lunch using the tuna and some home ingredients.

Ingredients: (like a typical Asian, I never measure and just added things according to my instinct)

Sushi-grade tuna
Sushi rice (cooked Japanese rice, rice vinegar, sugar, salt)
Nori
Avocado
Sriracha
Kikkoman
Wasabi paste
Onion flakes

Cut the tuna into cubes.

Add the sriracha, sesame oil, kikkoman, wasabi paste to the tuna. Mix well and then throw in a few dashes of onion flakes for the crunch and flavor.

With the spicy tuna tartare made above, you can either put it on top of the sushi-rice cake formed by a ring-mold or roll it into makis. Easy, tasty treat prepared in less than 5 minutes.
